Who Our Spring Fling Acts Really Are

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

Tomorrow is my favorite day of the school year: SPRING FLING!!! It’s always so great to end the school year with such a bang and to have some fun before finals start. This year, I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t rain and it sunny and in the 70s like Spring Fling should be…let’s hope that actually comes true! As we all know (with the exception of freshmen), the day ends with out annual on-campus concert by the lecture hall. Here is the inside scoop on who’s performing this year!

OPENING ACTS:

1.  3LAU

3LAU aka Justin Blau is a 23-year-old DJ and progressive house producer. He started gaining recognition in the electronic music world in 2011 and even won a remix award competition for his remix of Tiesto’s “Work Hard, Play Hard”. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012, where he would DJ at nights at local parties. He is sure to be at hit at Binghamton since he is used to performing for college students!

2. Joey Bada$$

Joe Bada$$ aka Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott is actually only 19 years old. He is a hip-hop recording artist based in Brooklyn. He released his first mixtape in 2012 which received acclaim and recognition and he is currently working on his debut studio album, due for release this year. Maybe we’ll even get a sneak peak!

3. RDGLDGRN aka Red Gold Green is a band from Reston, VA. They recorded their debut album in 2012 at Sound City Studios and released in this past September. Their record company has also worked with The Lumineers and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. They are sure to be a fun time!

HEADLINER:

Matt and Kim! They are an indie-rock duo from Brooklyn as well. They formed in 2004 and are composed of Matt Johnson (vocals/keyboard) and Kim Schifino (drums), athough Kim’s voice is sometimes featured. They are really unique and are known for a DIY attitute toward music. Their first self-titled album was released on October 26. 2006 and their music has been praised. They have released several albums since then and are definitely going to be a great concert! I like their indie-feel as opposed to the alternative-rock aura that was Yellowcard last year. Who doesn’t love their song Daylight…it’s so catchy and upbeat!

Get ready for a great Spring Fling Binghamton! It is sure to be a fun time :)
