Top 5 Taylor Swift Music Videos

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

In honor of her newest music video for Style, the Her Campus team at Binghamton has come up with a ranking of the top five Taylor Swift music videos. It certainly wasn’t an easy list to come up with considering how many music videos Swift has come out with since 2008 but after taking a look over at her videos and reminisicing on how great they all were, we finally narrowed it down to five. Let us know if you agree with this ranking and which videos you think should be on this list!

5. Love Story

An oldie but goodie, Swift’s music video for her classic song, Love Story was what made those who weren’t a fan of hers from the start, begin to fall in love with her. In this music video, we got our first true glimpse into Swift’s passion for fairly tales and the magical fantasies tied to falling in love. We just wish that this is what we watched in our high school English classes when we were learning about the story of Romeo and Juliet.

4. Shake It Off

Jumping from 2009 to 2014 (or shall I say 1989?), the Shake It Off music video introduced us to a era of Taylor Swift. Swift’s most recent and most successful album, 1989, is her first entirely pop album. Yup, Swift has left behind all of her country music roots that made us fall in love with her through her first album and it was a big risk for Swift to take, but if anyone could take the jump, it’s her. The music video is strange and different but extremely fun and no one can deny that they join in when Swift begins rapping.

3. You Belong With Me

This music video is a classic and makes the list of her top five music videos because it tells a story that all girls can relate to: liking a boy who has a girlfriend who he doesn’t belong with and he should actually be with you instead. The music video is fun and is constantly changing in scenery which keeps it interesting and fun for people to keep watching all the way until the end where they finally (spoiler alert) end up together.

2. 22

This music video is easily one of Swift’s most fun and entertaining videos and makes my 20-year old self increasingly excited for my 22nd birthday when I can throw a big pool-side glitter covered party while wearing cat ears and my friends pushing me into the pool. The entire video is filled with fun and Swift doing things with her best friends such as eating cake, laying out by the pool, dancing in front of a white canvas dressed as hipsters, jumping on trampolines, snuggling on the beach during the sunset and of course the giant late-night party all of which I imagine is how Swift spent her 22nd birthday and how I hope to spend my 22nd birthday.

1. Blank Space

And at number one is the Blank Space music video. If you have yet to see this video, please do yourself a favor and watch it and you’ll easily understand why it’s the number on spot. Like all of Swift’s videos, the Blank Space video tells a story, but unlike most of her videos where she’s sweet and innocent and falling for a boy, Swift takes a nasty turn and becomes crazy because her love interest is caught texting another girl. Swift takes out her anger by dropping his phone into a fountain, cutting holes in his shirt, setting his shirt on fire and throwing it out the window, stabbing a heart-shaped cake that spews out blood, hitting his car with a golf club, and so much more.
