Step Right Into Fall Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

The day my sandals migrate south to the dark rear section of my closet is a particularly sad one. That being said, I refuse to exile any other members of my wardrobe in preparation for the colder weather.

The task of transitioning a closet filled with handfuls of Tobi halter tops worn to many an EDM festival, baby doll dresses donned at countless BBQs, and a wide variety of Zara miniskirts having made appearances at numerous GNOs (Girls Nights Out) throughout the hot months of summer can be quite daunting. The key to dressing appropriately for a new season while still holding onto your favorite summer essentials is as simple as knowing how to layer properly.

A thin floral mini dress usually worn with just a bandeau and a pair of Sam Edelman gladiators can become a perfect staple for a day of classes or even a casual night out with friends. Warm up your wispy dress with dark colored tights fitted into booties. Layer on an oversize pullover sweater for a casual flirty look perfect for a light fall breeze.

To show off your favorite halter or cropped tops, slip into a cozy vintage flannel button down worn open. To complete the look, pull on a distressed denim jean in any shade. This look gives off the perfectly disheveled cool girl vibe to greet the beginning of fall with sass and ease.

Looking bulky while layering is a common fear among us all but if done right you’ll have nothing to worry about! Try and keep the bottom most layer thin and light so you can throw on a chunky sweater without well, looking chunky! These simple but stylish looks can transition into the end of fall early winter as well. Add a knit scarf and a leather jacket to the mix for all season long style and warmth.
