Show your pink pride because Breast Cancer Awareness Month is coming!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

As the leaves start changing and we enter into a new season, it is time to bring out your pink pride because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  Here are some pointers on how to spread awareness about the disease while still having fun on campus!

1. Spice up your daily outfit with pink ribbons or pink bows.  If you want to get extra creative, you can DIY the ribbon.   In addition, the Susan G. Komen online store offers a variety of awesome breast cancer awareness apparel so be sure to check out the website at http://www.shopkomen.com.

2. Take part in the annual American Cancer Society walk, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  The event is taking place on Sunday, October 2nd at the Binghamton Recreation Park.  Registration starts at 8:30 AM and the walk begins at 10:00 AM. For more information visit: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/MakingStridesAgainstBreastCancer/MSABCCY16EA?pg=entry&fr_id=77380

3. Have a fundraiser such as a bake sale with pink cupcakes and pink lemonade.  College students love food so when they see cupcakes, they will be sure to buy and support the cause! Another idea is to have an event where people can make pink beaded bracelets or necklaces.

4. Take some time to research and educate yourself and others about how to screen for breast cancer.  Being proactive is so important! Learn how to perform a self-breast examination and be sure to mark National Mammography Day on your calendar.

5. Donate! Every dollar counts!
