How To: Survive Finals Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

Stressed out over that Differential Equations final? Does Chem 480 have you flipping out? No worries, here are 5 easy tips to help distress and recharge when studying for finals.

1. Vitamin C. While some people swear by 5 hour energy or “Concentration Pills” to help them get through those late night binge sessions my go-to is Orange Juice. Good old fashion OJ is all I need to get me through. You’ll definitely want to give your immune system a boost so the Vitamin C will definitely help, plus it’s got a natural sweetness that’s sure to help curb those late night ice cream cravings.

2. Give it a rest. It’s no secret our body needs rest and it’s no surprise that finals week is when get the least amount. Giving your body a 45 minute rest-sesh will get you right back into the finals flow without leaving you groggy. Bring a pillow to the library and recharge your body. during finals week the library is a universally judgement free zone (there’s people camping out in the corner for petes sake) so trust me, no one will judge you if you take a quick snooze. They’ll probably be jealous, just don’t snore!

3. Treat yo’self. I’ve found that when I force myself to study for copious amounts of time I end up cranky and grumpy. So if you’ve missed that latest episode of Game of Thrones, Treat yo’self and catch up. But just one episode! Taking your mind off what you learned will not only make you relaxed but once you start studying again you can test yourself to see if you really remembered what you learned!

4. Comfort is Key. No one is trying to style and profile at 3am in Bartle. Be comfortable and be free. Sweatpants, sweatshirts and ponytails are the “in” look of finals week. You’re only fooling yourself if you think you’re going to be comfortable in skinny jeans and crop top while trying to remember chem equations.

5. Use your networks. Everyone is in the same awful finals boat as you are. No one is eager to study. Take advantage of the events that clubs, dorming communities, and organizations around campus are holding. Meeting up with people of like mind will help you keep your struggle to study in perspective. Also, don’t forget about the library rave!
