Backpacks Are The New Black

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

The beginning of fall calls for many things such as pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, and the start of a brand new school year! Aside from the back to school shopping for clothes, there is one must-have accessory for the new year—school bags. Throughout middle school and high school many girls choose to ditch the Jansports for a more girly, mature tote bag. There is much more range with shoulder bags; they come in different colors, styles, and brands. As you enter college and are suddenly carrying textbooks for various classes all day long, it’s important to have a sturdy backpack that can handle anything. But when people think of a backpack they revert back to the simple black Jansport they grew up with; it just lacks character that the shoulder bag has. However, in recent years backpacks have been making a comeback. They vary across the spectrum, which allows girls the opportunity to choose one that fits their personality.

One backpack in particular that I took a liking to was the Vera Bradley backpack Senior, Shai Kartus is sporting. This backpack is very functional as well as stylish. These backpacks are very girly and come in many different color combinations to appease everyone’s taste. It’s not too small that it cannot hold enough, but also is not too overpowering and large. It’s practical and cute at the same time, which are the two most important things to look for in a backpack. School has just become a lot more colorful!
