By Amanda Gurock
October 5, 2012 - 4:36pm

October is finally here, which means that we’ve only got one thing on our minds: Halloween! While some of us begin planning our Halloween costumes over the summer, some of us end up scrambling for a costume in the last weeks before the big Halloween weekend arrives here at Binghamton. There’s no need to stress out about your costume though, we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re looking to dress up with a small group of friends or a large one, there are tons of creative costumes you can play around with. READ MORE

Guide to "Gangnam Style"

By Carmen Rey
September 30, 2012 - 1:03pm

Okay, so we’ve all heard it. It’s been on the radio, DT while partying at Flashbacks, on busses from class, on Ellen, the Today show and SNL. Korean rap (known lovingly as just K-rap) is taking over the American airwaves one silly hip thrust and horsey gallop at a time. And as Americans, most of us don’t know nearly as much about Asian culture as we’d like, and while more than enough frat boys sing sounds that sound like the lyrics to Gangnam Style, they probably don’t know what it means. That’s why it’s time we started to explain what you’re singing (or attempting to sing) and the culture that goes along with it. READ MORE

HC Travels the World of Wine with Second Glass' Wine Riot

By Kristin Letsch
September 26, 2012 - 3:30pm

HC Binghamton Editor-in-Chief, Carmen Rey and I, fled the DT scene to New York City this past weekend to experience a night of wine tasting, education and, above all, fun. Wine Riot is hosted by Second Glass, a company that simply just wants to get more people drinking wine. The event takes place in six major cities across the U.S. from Boston to Los Angeles. NYC was the second to last stop on this year’s Second Glass’ wine tour, and thanks to Her Campus, Rey and I were able to go. READ MORE

Partying Abroad

By Hayley Shapiro
September 26, 2012 - 3:00pm

Besides the beautiful cathedrals, delicious cuisine and impeccable style, what’s the best part of  Florence? In case you couldn’t guess, it would have to be the nightlife.
No drinking age. Let me repeat that, no drinking age. Say goodbye to fakes, pass backs and making your older friends go to the liquor store for you. In a place where drinking is heavily incorporated in the culture and wine is cheaper than water, suffice it to say, you are always in for a fun night. READ MORE

Off-Campus Adventures

By Carmen Rey
September 24, 2012 - 1:55pm

We all try to escape Bing every now and again. The easiest way to do that is by making your way down to the City for a night/weekend on the town. HC team members got the chance to make our way off campus for the night with Second Glass' Wine Riot. Check out the article on it later this week and make plans to make Wine Riot NYC next year! Mike DiGregorio

September 21, 2012 - 2:05am

So, if you girls haven't realized this yet, sometimes the best guys to hang out with are the ones with the geek-y sense of what's cool. So maybe it's time you ditched the Call of Duty player and figured out how to play Halo. Time you dusted off your inner sci-fi geek (we all loved that Star Trek remake) and embraced that secret hatred for Ke$ha you've been harboring since you found glitter in unspeakable places last spring. Restaurant Week is Here!!!

By Carmen Rey
September 20, 2012 - 4:56pm

Any smart Binghamton University student knows that the best week of the entire year is this one: Restaurant Week. If you’re new and have no idea what Restaurant Week is, here’s the low down.  It’s actually a little over a week where all of the local restaurants set up special menus for lunch and dinner where you get 2-3 courses for $10 (for lunch) or $25 or less (for dinner). It’s a cheap way to get some great food and try out the restaurants you normally wouldn’t go to -- I mean, face it, not many of us really go to eat off campus at the local restaurants. READ MORE

Meet the Editors: In-Chief, Carmen Rey

By Carmen Rey
September 20, 2012 - 4:08pm

Those of you who have been our readers for a while will most likely recognize our Editor-in-Chief this year. Carmen Rey was our Campus Celebrities editor last year and after a semester abroad, she’s back and ready to take Her Campus Binghamton to new and great heights. “I was studying abroad in London last semester when I got an email from Lauren, one of our campus correspondents last year, asking if I wanted to take up the position,” Carmen said, commenting that she was ecstatic they even thought of her. She’s been planning all summer for great ways to spread the influence of Her Campus on the Binghamton campus. “Most people still aren’t aware of who we are, so we need to change that.” READ...

Ciao from Firenze

By Hayley Shapiro
September 20, 2012 - 12:39am

Ciao ciao! This is the first blog I’m writing from Florence, or as the natives call it, Firenze. Living with four of my friends in a beautiful apartment in Italy still feels completely surreal. Not to mention, my “classes” are elementary Italian, wine tasting, cooking Italian cuisine and a communications internship, so with the exception of writing weekly articles (which I enjoy) my classes are just a fun way to further immerse myself in the culture. Thus far, the most stressful part about studying abroad is planning weekend trips – should we book a day trip to Venice Saturday or spend the weekend in Amalfi Coast or Barcelona – ahhhh! So as you can tell, this semester is a vacation full of other mini vacations....
