5 New Clubs to Try Out!

5 Clubs to Check out!

College students are always guilty of claiming they have “TooBusy Syndrome” (I’m guilty too!). With this, we constantly convince ourselves to think that we are too occupied with classes, study groups and internships, and we often forget about all the amazing on-campus opportunities there are! Binghamton University’s Student Association offers over 250 clubs and organizations, and students always have the option to start their own. So why not find one to join today?

  1. BU Zoo: No better way than this to display your school spirit! BU Zoo attends sporting events, as well as makes their appearance known on campus everywhere. Bearcats parade around on “Green Day Fridays”, where members will make sure all students are wearing green, and if not, give them a coupon to purchase such clothing at the campus bookstore.

  1. Harpur Harpeggios: Love singing? The Harpur Harpeggios, or the “Pegs”, are the all-female acapella group on campus. I’ve personally seen them perform at the semesterly dollar show and the annual Fashion for a Cure show and can confidently attest that they are AMAZING.

  1. Glee Club: Another group on campus that I have been stunned by after their performance! Glee Club invites everyone of all musical talents (voice, bass, guitar) to perform in numbers that they decide on as a team (last semester was Harry Potter themed, loved it!). They rehearse HARDCORE, and it’s beyond evident that they do when you seen them giving it their all during their semester show. The bubbly joy is contagious!

  1. Engineers without Borders: These students casually meet to change the world while I casually change into pajamas to watch Netflix. The group brainstorms technological ways to contribute to and improve life in underdeveloped, impoverished areas of the world. You don’t need an engineer to be involved- every major is pertinent, and everybody here thinks critically to improve the situations at hand.

  1. Thurgood Marshall Pre-Law Society: This group serves as a support group to any students interested in law school by providing them resources to help them become exposed to the legal field while pursuing undergraduate studies. Guest lecturers come, yearly trips are made to cities like Washington D.C. or Cleveland to visit courts and politicians, and workshops are held to help students hone in on skills, such as networking. As a pre-law student myself, I have heard exceptional feedback from my fellow peers and am so jealous of their opportunities! Maybe I’ll take my own advice-it’s never too late to join anything!
