5 Cute Halloween Nail Art Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

Halloweekend at Binghamton is just about here, and as we make our last minute touches to our costumes, plan our makeup, and figure out our plans for the weekend, we can’t forget about our nails! With Fall comes trendy dark nails. While these nail colors are season appropriate and super cute to flaunt, we’re dressing up, so why not complete our look with some cute Halloween nail art! From mermaid nails to sugar skulls, there is a design for everyone and every outfit!

1. Mermaid Nails

This is one of my favorites and so easy to do yourself! Just take some glitter nail polish (preferably in a blue/green or dark purple for the mermaid vibe), paint on some scales and your mermaid look is complete right down to your nails.

2. Bloody Nails

They’re not nearly as gross as they sound, I promise! These nails are right on point for Halloween: creepy enough but so adorable at the same time. Just take a plain base color like white or black, start off with a few red dots where the drips will end, paint on the red tip, connect the dots and wa-lah, bloody nails! (If you want to make them extra trendy, use black matte nail polish!)

3. Cat Claws

We all know how popular the cat costume is every year, but this finishing touch will be perfect for setting you apart from the others. All you’ll need is some nude nail polish as a base, and black or grey polish for the claws. For especially sharp claws, use some tape as a guide while painting to make your lines super straight and pointy!

    4. Jack-O-Lantern Nails

There is nothing more classic Halloween than a Jack-O-Lantern, so no matter what you are, these nails will top off any costume! All you need is some black, orange and yellow polish and you’re ready to start designing your own little Jack-O-Lantern!

    5. Sugar Skulls

Stemming from the Mexican holiday, the Day of the Dead, Sugar Skulls have become a chic fashion trend to all. Spooky and chic: nothing beats Sugar Skulls to celebrate Halloween. Just have some black, white, and maybe some glitter polish ready to go and you’re set! Don’t forget some thin brushed polish, or nail art pen to design your skull just right!
