5 Best Things About Bing in the Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

Binghamton is magical in the spring!  After months of gray skies, seeing blue brightens everyone’s day and mood.  Here are 5 of the best things about Binghamton in the spring:

1.     The Spine is packed with students studying, playing Frisbee, eating lunch, hanging with friends or even taking a quick nap in between classes.  If you are lucky enough, you might even be able to snag a hammock.  Seeing so many people makes campus feel alive and energized!

2.     Spring Fling is coming up in just a few weekends (May 7th)!  So, be sure to mark it on your calendar!  You will not want to miss this annual festival that will be full of your favorite childhood carnival rides and typical fair foods such as cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn.  There will be student performances throughout the day and a FREE concert on Saturday night at 8:00 PM featuring Walk the Moon and T-Pain!

3.     Knowing that the snowy winter is over feels great!  Now, you can pack away your bulky sweaters, scarves, gloves and winter coats.  It is time to dig out from the bottom of your closet all of your favorite sundresses, sunglasses and sandals.

4.     There is nothing better than an ice cream cone on a warm spring day.  Sugar Lips Ice Cream Shop is about a 5-10 minute drive off campus and open and ready to start scooping.  I have never been there, but I have heard it is amazing and plan to try it this spring.

5.     Just like in the winter, around finals time, the Dean of Students Office tries to make the last month of school as stress-free as possible.  One highlight to look forward to is the Library Rave (in the parking garage under Bartle Library) during finals weeks.  Be sure to be on the lookout for updates about when this event will be occurring!
