Wellness Wednesday: 4 Ways to Stay Active After Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Returning back to school after a week of relaxing on the beach or on your couch at home is always a struggle! With spring just around the corner, it’s important to continue staying active. Bikini season is on its way and sooner rather than later you’ll regret all those hours you spent on Netflix rather than at the gym! But if the gym isn’t for you there is more than one way to stay active! Here are just a few options you have here at Bentley.

1. Intramural Sports- if you’re just as clumsy as I, but still enjoy playing sports intramurals is a great option! Bentley offers a variety of teams from coed soccer to flag football to dodgeball, and even ultimate Frisbee! Depending on which team you choose to join there may be a small fee. If you’re interested in learning more or just curious as to what Bentley offers visit their website, where you can find what sports are offered, entry deadlines and any costs that may be included!

2. Club Sports- For those collegietes who have more athletic ability but aren’t’ interested in joining a varsity team, club sports are for you! These teams are brought to you buy the Student Actives department and lucky for you they are financially supported our student activity fee! This year the teams include: Cheerleading, Women’s Rugby, Sailing, and the ultimate society! To find out more information about club sports visit their website or email Lai-Monte Hunter at lhunter@bentley.edu.

3. Fitness Classes- This year after high demand from students, the wellness center brought back a variety of weekly fitness and stress reduction classes. Each class in an hour long and takes place in the Wellness Studio of Slade Hall. Classes are open to all undergraduate residential students! This year classes include: Kick @$$ Cardio, Butts and Gutts, YogAAA, Stretch and Strengthen and Zumba! Each class has a cost of $50 per semester and takes place on a variety of days throughout the week.  To enroll or view the full schedule of classes, check out their website or contact Jessica Greher Traue, Assistant Director for Wellness, at jtraue@bentley.edu with questions or concerns. Feel free to call the wellness center at 781-891-2947!

4. Take advantage of the facilities offered- Although the Dana Center is a great option, we often forget about all the other facilities we have offered to us! Besides the gym you can find the pool, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, the soccer field, the football field, the baseball field,  the field hockey / lacrosse field, the volleyball court, and last but not least the tennis courts. With nice weather creeping up, take advantage of the multiple fields we have on campus– grab your friends and play some soccer, through around a Frisbee or take a run on the track! You’ll be working out and catching your daily dose of vitamin D!
