As the semester dwindles down to its impending conclusion, the lingering threat of final exams and last minute essays is more omnipotent than ever before in the semester. Before we can head home for the holidays and sing “Fa la la la la,” we must first confront what’s sure to be a series of manic “ha ha ha ha ha’s” throughout the utter madness that is finals week. Here are the many blustering emotions that we all encounter throughout this taxing time in the semester, as told by the Christmas classic, Home Alone

Angrily muttering to yourself when your professor assigns a major paper/project the week before finals

Spending hours studying…

…accompanied by an existential crisis as to whether or not you’ve actually retained any information

Calling home after a series of mental breakdowns amidst the finals preparation

Deciding that you’ve worked hard and deserve a break…followed by hours of procrastinating, courtesy of Netflix

Looking at the clock, only to be informed that its 4 AM, and the magnitude of your sleep deprivation has reached new heights

Waking up the morning of your first final, and trying to avoid your impending doom…

…followed by a brief spell of confidence when you put on your game face, pack up your financial calculator, and head out the door

Arriving to the exam, welcomed by a collective of other students equally as mortified as you are for what’s to come

The euphoric realization that you actually remember the material on the exam

What you’ll likely be compelled to say as you bid your professor a cathartic “adieu”

The rare instance when you get to go home before your friends, because the majority of your finals were essays

When you head home, and everyone asks the question you’ve been dreading all week: “So how did finals go?”

But, ultimately, being warmed by the fact that you can officially get into the holiday spirit

Native New Yorker Brooke Camarda has had her eclectic share of jobs—from the runways of NYFW to the haunted hallways of NYZ Apocalypse. Commonly known by her alter ego of Wonder Woman, there's no task or adventure that the skydiving-enthusiast isn't willing to take on. She loves typography and cappuccinos almost as much as she loves her (very) big family, and is thrilled to be writing for Bentley University's chapter of Her Campus.
Hi, my name is Molly! I'm currently the Co-President and a Campus Correspondent for Bentley University's HC chapter.
