Dorm Decorating Tips for Christmas!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

The most wonderful time of the year has arrived! As ready as we are to be filled with holiday joy, the impending doom of finals does NOT make us feel merry and bright. Don’t let the stress of exams bury your inner Christmas elf, though. Decorating your dorm with red, green, and plenty of sparkles will help keep your holiday happiness alive! Here’s how!

Bargain Hunt!

If you’re a broke college student like me, you’re gonna have to be a baller on a budget. My roomie and I started in the bargain section at Target! There’s tons of adorable decorations, and you can get enough to fill your dorm without breaking the bank!

Here are our favorite finds:

DIY!

This one’s perfect, especially for all you Pinners out there. Let’s get Christmas crafty, people! What’s more rewarding than a festive room created all by yourself?! Get a bunch of your friends together and make a fun bonding activity out of it. I’m sure you all remember how to make snowflakes out of printer paper.

Here’s my attempt at recreating a Christmas décor DIY I found on Pinterest!

P.S. Everything I used (sparkly bow, mini ornaments, silver ribbon, tape) I got at my local dollar store!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

If your family is anything like mine, your collection of Christmas décor has grown and grown every year. It wouldn’t hurt to ask the parentals if there’s anything you can take to school with you. You won’t even put a dent in your wallet. That’s right, everything’s $free.99!

Lights, Lights, Lights!

First off, I am SO SORRY if your school doesn’t allow them, my thoughts and prayers are with you, because a few strings of lights make any dorm room feel so much cozier. And, if you use white lights to decorate for Christmas, you can leave them up all year round. Using colored lights too will make your dorm feel even more festive! All the untangling is well worth it, I promise.

I hope you’ll find these tips helpful! Happy holidays, and happy decorating everyone!
