1. Smoking Slipper
The smoking slipper/loafer is this year’s answer to last fall’s moccasin. They are extremely comfortable with the added benefit of versatility; they complete a business casual look of a button down and straight leg dress pant, or just as easily dress up a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. Slippers are a luxurious touch with textures of suede, velvet or calf hair. And very trendy this season are jewel tones like burgundy and midnight blue, neutrals, and a more ambitious animal print.
Example: Sole Society ‘Miia’ Loafer ($69.95)
2. Chunky Heeled Ankle Bootie
This season’s obsession with the chunky heeled bootie is entirely understandable. It is casual while also conveying that, yes, you did put some effort in today. AND you will not have to contemplate cutting your feet off at the end of a night after wearing them because of the stability provided by the bigger heel. Can someone yell bonus?! Suggestion is to get them in distressed suede to add a very cool, tough look to contrast with a feminine outfit of skinnies and delicate lace blouse.
Example: Jeffery Campbell ‘Hanger’ Bootie in Grey suede ($154.95)
3. Riding Boot
The riding boot is here to stay as a staple in your closet for another season. If you are just itching to buy another pair (one definitely is not enough), a new style this year is the two-toned boot. It adds dimension to the boot, and will more easily complement different outfits.
Example: Vince Camuto ‘Fabina’ Over the Knee Boot ($218.95)

4. Thigh High Boot
If there were any justice in this world whatsoever, a pair of Stuart Weitzman thigh-highs would already be in my closet by now. They are however, just a touch on the expensive side, and unfortunately, most definitely not designed with soccer player’s quads in mind. The Canton boot is a better option with the open back, and it still has the rough textured look that immediately gives you a certain edge, while remaining oh-so-chic.

5. D’Orsay Flat
The D’Orsay Flat, called the bikini flat because it just has the toe and heel, is my favorite variation of the ballet flat. It’s commonly in a pointy toe, which creates a look of sophistication and is perfect for a business outfit, but also can be very fun in metallic accents, or in two toned form.
Example: Halogen ‘Kayla’ Pointy Toe Flat ($79.95)
