On March 3rd, Bentley will be hosting a Model United Nations Middle School Conference.  The Bentley Model United Nations (BMUN) is a simulation of the United Nations for students in 6th-8th grade.  Over 300 students from New England will be participating and they have spent months preparing.

According to Bentley’s MUN Vice-President, James Germain, “This year’s topics cover the Arab Spring, Human Cloning, Environmental Refugees, and the breakup of the USSR. While conferences of this nature are common within the Great Boston Area, what make our conference unique is that at BMUN we place a special focus on teaching and infuse hands-on, experiential learning in every facet of the conference. BMUN is also a valuable teaching tool for its members and other students on the Bentley Campus. Our staff is trained throughout the academic year. Their training contains many components, including course-related and faculty supervised research, and culminates with running both middle and high school conference.”

This event combines Bentley students who are in the Bentley United Nations club as well as students from Professor McNemar’s Model UN class.  The goal of this conference is to increase the global awareness of the students involved and help them to better understand global issues.  This is an important cause because as all of us collegiettes know, business is becoming increasingly international.  Interested in getting involved with next year’s conference?
