Looking for a job may seem like the most frightening task in the world right now. Besides, isn’t of the most popular ideas for college students, “why do today what you can do tomorrow?”
But luckily for Bentley students, we have a fantastic Career Services office that is here to help us every step of the way in the transformation from lazy college students to working adults (don’t worry, there will still be fun times even when you’re working).
Bentley’s Nathan R. Miller Center for Career Services (CCS) was recently ranked number 8 in career/job services by The Princeton Review! Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of that? Also, in a recent survey of Bentley’s May 2010 graduating class, 90 percent of students either have a job or have gone onto graduate school.
One reason that Bentley’s program is so high above the rest is the time and commitment it gives to students. Professional counselors are free to meet with students every day by appointment, which you can book on BentleyLink. If you find an extra few minutes in your day, drop-in hours are also available to students, for talking about —possible job markets to the final interview before landing a job. The Career Services office also provides a variety of events throughout the semester to help students in their quests for jobs or internships.
Here are dates for upcoming Career Services events:
- Career Fair- 10/05
- Etiquette Networking- 10/17
- Cover Letter Clinic- 10/19
- Majors/Minors Fair- 10/26
- Offer Etiquette- 11/7
One of the most important events that Career Services holds is the Career Fair, which will take place on Wednesday, October 5th, from 1-4 pm in the Dana Center. So be sure to mark your calendars as it can be helpful for everyone. From freshmen just thinking about their major, to seniors who are trying to find a job, this is the place to be! However, if you miss the fall Career Fair, there is another one in the spring.
In addition to this important event, Career Services also offers employer information sessions in which individual employers can meet with a smaller group of students for a more intimate chance to meet. They also have on-campus interviews for students to meet with potential employers. The employer profiles through BentleyLink which give students valuable information about certain jobs and employers’ relationships with Bentley and Career Services.
To meet with a counselor or get more information on a certain event or workshop you can either visit their website or go to their new offices in LaCava 225. Be sure to take advantage of this great resource when you begin to think more about your future or in looking for a job. Don’t worry, it’s only October, so you still have plenty of time to enjoy college and plan for your future!
