8 Pro-Tips for Getting Through Midterms Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

1. Get out of your room to study

It’s super fun in the moment to study with your roommates for an exam (you’re laughing and having fun and showing them funny stuff on Insta), but when 2 A.M. rolls around and you’ve accomplished nothing, it’s not so fun anymore. Going to the library or the Bubble and jamming to an awesome playlist will work wonders on your overwhelming workload AND your stress levels!

2. Exercise to help with stress

Whenever you can squeeze in a half hour on the treadmill or elliptical, do it! Exercising or doing some form of physical activity, such as yoga, will keep you healthy and is scientifically proven to help with stress.

3. Take time for yourself

While it’s important to get your stuff done, it’s even more important for you to take care of yourself and recognize your own needs as a human, like eating and sleeping. As soon as you over exhaust your resources and fry yourself, you are getting nothing done. Listen to your body and take care of yourself. Sometimes a little relaxation time is just what the doctor ordered.

4. Eat healthy for energy

Eating healthy during midterms is extremely important. It helps keep your energy up for those late-night study sessions and prevents you from getting sick. This is no easy task, because, let’s face it, college during midterms is a Petri dish.

5. But also give yourself a meal or snack that you love every once in a while

While eating healthy is important, it’s also good to give yourself a little leeway and indulge in some comfort food (lookin’ at you, French fries) to keep yourself motivated and feeling human.

6. Get lots of sleep – no one likes being sick during midterms

Everyone hates getting sick, especially when not living at home, but it’s about a hundred thousand times worse during midterms month. Make sure to get lots of sleep. Being over exhausted to the point of not paying attention in class or being able to think during an exam is the exact opposite of the point of pulling an all-nighter.

7. Don’t drink coffee after 9 P.M.

This may seem like a fantastic idea while in line at Einstein’s, but do NOT do it. Repeat: do NOT. Speaking from experience, you will get that extra three hours of studying but won’t sleep a wink that night.

8. Relax. Everything will get done

Remember that these quizzes and tests will not matter in 10 years, and just know that everything will get done. So breathe in, breathe out, and be the bada** you are, because you can do this!
