10 Steps For The Perfect Girls’ Night In

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

When you need a break from going out and getting dressed up, what better to do than call up your friends and plan a girls’ night in?  Some of the best nights in college are spent on your best friend’s couches, curled up in your pajamas, eating junk food, and catching up until the early hours of the morning.  Just find a night when you’ve all got nothing else planned, and follow these ten simple must-haves for the perfect girls’ night.

 #1 Comfy clothes

When you’re with your girls, who cares what you look like? That means it’s time to take off the makeup, put on your comfiest oversized sweatpants, and don’t be afraid to be yourself.

#2 Put on a chick flick

If you don’t know what to pick, Mean Girls, Clueless, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, or pretty much any cult-classic rom-com will suffice.

#3 Order a pizza (or Chinese)

A girls’ night in is no time to count calories or worry about table etiquette. Stuff your face with some lo mein noodles or four slices of pizza, and don’t let yourself feel guilty about it in the morning.

#4 Open a bottle of wine (or a pint of ice cream)

Nothing gets the conversation flowing like a bottle of wine or a pint of ice cream (if you’re not 21). Pop the cork and let the good times roll!

#5 Paint night

Buy a few blank canvases and some paints from Amazon, and paint inspirational quotes to hang on the wall in your dorm—or peruse through Pinterest for other ideas like easy sunsets or pretty landscapes.

#6 Write bucket lists

Write down all the things you want to do before you graduate, whether it’s with your girls or by yourself. Bonus points for using colored pens or adding fun doodles!

#7 Facials

Cliché as it may be, there’s nothing like a good at-home facial.  Putting on facemasks not only makes for a great photo opportunity, but it also unclogs your pores and leaves your skin feeling fresh. .

#8 Macaroons

Go to Argo Tea and buy some macaroons, followed by binge watching Gossip Girl—you’ll feel like Blair Waldorf in no time.

#9 Paint your nails

We all know it’s hard to find time for this with your busy school schedule, so a night in with your girls is the perfect opportunity for a much-needed mani/pedi. Plus, your friends will probably have polish colors that you don’t, so swap them around and experiment with new hues.

#10 Have fun

Ultimately, it’s not so much about what you’re doing, but who you’re with—so relax, don’t stress, and take the time to enjoy yourself!
