Everything We Know About Jack White’s New Album

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Belmont chapter.

The last time Jack White released a new album was in 2014 when he released his second solo album, Lazaretto. But this past week White’s fans were graced with not one, not two, but three huge announcements surrounding his new music. First off White, formerly of the White Stripes, released a single called “Connected by Love” along with a moving music video that was filmed in L.A. and Nashville. Along with the release of “Connected by Love”, he released another song called “Respect Commander” which is a mostly instrumental companion track. “Connected by Love” has drawn conflicting opinions from listeners with some saying that it felt ‘safer’ than what White is known for while others found it a timely and moving piece. Regardless of the final stance taken on the song, White got listeners talking and excited– leading to his next announcement.

A couple of days later White made the announcement that he would release a new album, which includes the two previously mentioned songs, called Boarding House Reach. This album was written by White in a secluded Nashville apartment with few musical instruments and was later recorded in Nashville, L.A. and New York. As a reminder this is Jack’s first album to be released since 2014 and needless to say his fans are very excited by what this new album will be all about. Boarding House Reach is scheduled to be released on March 23, 2018. You can see the track list for Boarding House Reach below-

1. Connected By Love 2. Why Walk A Dog? 3. Corporation 4. Abulia and Akrasia 5. Hypermisophoniac 6. Ice Station Zebra 7. Over and Over and Over 8. Everything You’ve Ever Learned 9. Respect Commander 10. Ezmerelda Steals The Show 11. Get In The Mind Shaft 12. What’s Done Is Done 13. Humoresque

The final announcement that got White’s fans talking was the news of his 2018 world tour. White hasn’t toured in almost 4 years. This tour starts on April 19th in Detroit and ends in Las Vegas on August 23rd. For those doing the month abroad programs (France and UK people especially), you have the opportunity to see him play there in the end of June/early July. Unfortunately, White will not be doing a show in Nashville and the closest options are Ohio or to attend the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta in May that he is headlining. Tickets for the world tour go on sale to the public on January 26th at 10 am. You can see if your city is one of the lucky few here.
