The college application process is a grueling one; no matter what step you are at in the process there’s always that desire to find the place that will be a right fit and that you can call home for four years. My college search process involved 21 applications, 14 acceptances, 2 waitlists (which I didn’t accept), 5 rejections, and a whole lot of decisions. In the end, I made the decision to put my deposit down at BC and haven’t looked back since. Although there are a ton of reasons why I decided to call the heights home, these are my top 5 (in no particular order).

Location

BC is located in Chestnut Hill, which is right outside of Boston. While we’re technically not ‘in’ Boston, we’re close enough that we can take advantage of all the city has to offer. Getting out of ‘the BC bubble’ is highly encouraged and we’re a short walk away to the T (or a quick uber call if that’s what you prefer), making it easy and popular to travel around the city of Boston.

University Services

BC has a myriad of offices and programs available to students that they can take advantage of depending on their needs. BC strives to help students in different ways, be it academically, socially, financially, or mentally. No matter what problem you have, there’s always somewhere on campus you can go to and someone you can talk to who will try to help to the best of their abilities.

Financial Aid

BC claims to meet 100% of your financial needs, and while I don’t completely agree with that, BC is an institution that gives out a good amount of grant money to those who need financial aid in order to be able to afford going here.

Academic Programs

I went into my college search looking for undergraduate social work programs, and while BC doesn’t have one, it does have a 5 year BA/MSW program, allowing me to get my bachelor’s and social work degrees in 5 years instead of 6, and from one of the best social work schools in the country. While I can’t apply for the program until my sophomore year, the possibility of being able to take advantage of such an opportunity greatly impacted my decision to go here.

Campus

BC is gorgeous. There are so many quads where you can sit on the grass and relax and the architecture of the buildings is something to admire. Gasson is a particular favorite for many students on campus and when the sun sets on the horizon, it’s nice to know that this is the place I get to make memories at.
