As the sun keeps shining and classes become more in depth, much has been going on around campus, Boston, and the nation in the news. Justin Timberlake Releases New Single TKO!

After his “The 20/20 Experience” album, summer tour with Jay-Z, and VMA performance that included a N*SYNC reunion and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, I think we all fell back in love with JT.  Now we have another reason to fall in love with him. Justin Timberlake just released his new single TKO, and it is only a preview of more to come. His Part 2 of “The 20/20 Experience” Album will be released on September 30th. Check out JT’s new single, TKO!

Pope Francis States that the Catholic Church is Obsessing too Much Over Gay Marriage, Abortion and Contraceptive Rights.

The first Jesuit priest, Pope Francis, was interviewed this past week and touched upon his personal faith, the role of women and nuns in the Church and even his favorite artists. His statements regarding sexuality and reproductive rights, however, were the strongest. Pope Francis stated his disapproval of the Catholic Church for placing too much focus on gays, abortion and contraception to the point it has become an obsession of the church. This “obsession” takes away from the larger mission to be “home for all.”  Pope Francis feels the church can share its views on homosexuality, abortion and other issues, but should not “interfere spiritually” with the lives of gays and lesbians. The Pope expressed, “The church has sometimes locked itself up in small things, in small-minded rules. The people of God want pastors, not clergy acting like bureaucrats or government officials.”

Red Sox Clinch AL East on Friday after defeating the Blue Jays 6-3.

After last year’s unsuccessful season, when the Red Sox finished last in the AL East, Red Sox Nation was not sure if the team could rebuild. But rebuild and grow in strength they did, for the Red Sox have been a dominating team since the start of the season! For the past few weeks, it was apparent that the Red Sox would clinch the AL East, and they did not have to wait long into September until they claimed their spot.  And of course, the Red Sox and their fans celebrated in high spirits at Fenway Park.

Shooting at Navy Yard in Washington D.C. Kills 12 Victims

Our nation has been hit by another shooting tragedy this past Monday when a gunman, identified as former Navy reservist Aaron Alexis, opened fire in Building 197. Police shot down the gunman, and investigations are underway to discover how Alexis had access to bring a gun into the building and investigate his mental state.  The Defense Department has ordered a series of reviews of military security clearance procedures in the wake of the Washington Navy Yard shooting, and condolences are sent from around the nation for the families and close ones of the lost victims.
