What it’s Like to be a DMV Person in Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like a huge chunk of DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) people have ended up at BC. While this is a good thing, we all have some “just DMV things” that others don’t seem to understand.

1. Arguing that we are not from the south because we aren’t. Yes, we are under the Mason Dixon line but no we are not southern.

2. Getting your Metro/SmartTrip card messed up with the T/Charlie Card (Also, I’m not going lie, the Metro is more efficient… no hard feelings but it’s true.)

3. Coming to the sad realization that people around here don’t know what Old Bay is… ( but you’re ahead of the game because you brought it to Boston with you and have made everyone try it.)

4. Talking about beach week/senior week and getting weird looks.

5. Feeling confused and sad that people don’t know the hidden gems of the DMV beaches (you don’t know what Grottos pizza is?!…Bethany Surf Shop?!…Bless you heart.)

6. If you’ve graduated from a DMV Catholic schools, you can practically sniff out another fellow catholic school goer…somehow everyone knows each other. ‘Nuff Said.

7. Loving some late night Dominoes BUT seriously missing Ledo’s Pizza…who thought tiny squares of pizza could be so good?

8. For Marylanders: Bethesda Bagels and Sprinkles ice cream is all you want.

9. For Virginians: Sugar Shack donuts.

10.  For D.C. peeps: Georgetown Bagels, Cactus Cantina.

11.  D.C sports are low key (high key) a big deal and it runs in our blood. (Also, there’s nothing worse than a Ravens ran #HTTR)

12.  Finding BC people at your gate at Logan before flying home is the best feeling ever.

Don’t get me wrong: I love Boston. But you guys are really missing out on some amazing food, beaches, and everything in between.
