Support the ‘stache in Movember!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

As the month of November arrives, faces begin to get a bit more hairy and grizzly. This stance by guys to not shave in November is not out of laziness (although it does make their grooming routines easier). It is all part of a worldwide movement known as Movember. Through the power of moustaches, vital funds and awareness are raised of prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health challenges.

Since its inception in 2001 in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to be a worldwide movement with more than three million “Mo Bros” and “Mo Sistas,” who support guys who decide to grow a mustache, participating in the 30 Day Campaign.

The funds raised by the “Mo Bros” and “Mo Sistas” of the world support world-class men’s health programs that are focused on awareness and education, living with and beyond cancer, and staying mentally healthy.

So ladies, despite the scruff and facial fuzz of guys that are sprouting around campus this November, remember it is all for a good cause. Besides, there are such a variety of moustaches that it could be fun for guys to grow out the ‘stache!

If you want to try out a global spin, here is some inspiration from countries worldwide, including some of the 21 countries participating in Movember.

Movember is a movement that has raised millions of dollars over the years. Support the movement, encourage guys to put away the razors, and check out the Movember Foundation website  to find out more ways to get involved!
