Recap: Jeremy Jordan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

On September 19, Boston College got a special visit from actor Jeremy Jordan thanks to the BC Dramatic Society. For those of you who may not know, Jeremy has starred in Broadway shows such as Newsies: the musical (my personal favorite) and Bonnie and Clyde and he’s also appeared in Rock of Ages, West Side Story. He has even starred opposite Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton in the film Joyful Noise.

Currently, Jeremy is starring in a production of Finding Neverland at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA as JM Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan.  Jeremy described it as one of his most challenging roles because of the emotional intensity of the show and the challenging vocals but clearly, his hard work on his character is paying off. The show is currently sold out for the duration of its run at A.R.T but if you’re lucky you might be able to get stand by tickets! He also recently released an on screen adaptation of the musical, The Last Five Years, opposite Anna Kendrick.

During his informal Q&A session at our very own Robsham Theater, Jeremy spoke candidly about his experience from his time studying theater at Ithaca College to his recent success on stage and on screen. Despite his success, Jeremy is by far one of the nicest, down to earth, and goofy actors around. From his childhood dream of starring as a superhero to his experience working minimum wage jobs in the city, Jeremy spoke candidly about his path to becoming actor and what he has learned along the way.

In an email, Boston College Dramatics Society Publicity Coordinator Matt Giggey shared why having Jeremy come speak at BC was such an important experience The Dramatics Society is dedicated to providing educational opportunities that other organizations and departments do not offer on campus; so bringing in a Broadway actor to discuss his real world experiences fit our mission perfectly.” As a thank you, Jared Reinfeldt gave Jeremy a Boston College cap so I guess that makes him an honorary HC BC cutie!
