Rainy Day Fashion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Rain can be the biggest annoyance, especially at a school where you walk a ton (a.k.a. BC). Sure, it’s super pretty to Instagram puddles and rain drops that land on your window, but let’s be honest, any staircase turns from a mere discomfort to a dangerous hazard. So while you worry about trying to survive walking down the slippery Million Dollar Stairs, here are some fashion ideas to make you look and feel a little bit sunnier.

Rain boots (or at least shoes with traction) are a MUST. Flats will prove fatal and heels are hard enough to walk in without puddles. Get your normal boots waterproofed if you can’t stand rubber boots for a cute and effective look.

A waterproof jacket is another pretty obvious one. I suggest bright colors because they tend to make you happier on a grey day. There are tons of styles to choose from, but my personal favorites are a classic trench style and a looser style.

Underneath your jacket, wear whatever you want. I know a lot of girls opt for leggings, but try a cute dress, a trench coat, and boots. If you do wear leggings, try a big comfy sweater (something that reaches below your bum to keep proportions). If nothing else, make sure you’re comfy during the cold New England rain. It won’t be long before we’re dressing for snow.
