Some people bash Pandora for its ads, or say that Spotify is better, but I am a huge proponent of all things Pandora.  Its stations seem to work magic and always play just what I need to hear.  When it asks if I’m still listening, I want to respond with a fervent, “YES YES of course I’m still listening please don’t stop I need you for my sanity” (maybe a slight exaggeration…but long nights in O’Neill tend to lead to desperation).

But whether I’m studying, working out, or just hanging out, Pandora always has my back. I wanted to share a few of my favorite stations with you in case you a) are somehow not yet Pandora-literate, b) are bored of your usual stations and need to spice up your life, or c) feel the need to incorporate music into more aspects of your life.

Workout (besides the generic ‘Workout Radio’ which is also great)

Dubstep

The heavy downbeat is perfect to motivate you through an intense workout.

Alternative Endurance Training

Good for long runs or rides and includes music from Young the Giant, the Shins, Muse, and other alternative bands.  The music has a steady but upbeat tempo to keep you going.

Rock n Roll Marathon

Geared toward longer runs, this station has options for 8, 10 or 12-minute miles so you can listen to music that will set the rhythm for your speed.

Homework

Classical for Studying

Perfect for background noise while you are trying to study (some people even say it makes you smarter??).  I also recommend any instrumental station of your choice.

Above & Beyond

This falls into the ‘Trance’ genre and once again is a good option for background noise that might be a little bit more to your taste than classical.

Relaxing

Jack Johnson/Regina Spektor

I would argue that this is the all time best feel good station.  But that could be my personal taste…still I suggest trying it out.

Mumford and Sons

This is a little more of an upbeat relaxation station.

Bon Iver

More of a yoga/meditation-esque option for some intense relaxation.

Nostalgic (all self-explanatory)

Summer Hits of the 90s (Personal Fave!)

Disney

Film Scores

Broadway Showtunes

On campus, she is the Campus Correspondent for the Boston College branch of Her Campus. She also teaches group fitness classes at the campus gym (both Spinning and Pump It Up!) and is an avid runner. She has run five half-marathons as well as the Boston Marathon. In her free time, Kelsey loves to bake (cupcakes anyone?), watch Disney movies, exercise, read any kind of novel with a Starbucks latte in hand, and watch endless episodes of "Friends" or "30 Rock."
