An Ode to My BC Water Bottle

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Your pink hue and stylish rounded shape makes me feel unique in a sea of ellipticals and lulu lemon.  I pull you out of my backpack during class to assert my organization and seriousness; I’m going to work so hard for these fifty minutes that I’m going to be parched.  You are consistently there when I need you the most… you are my BC water bottle.

I am attached to you; the pouch on the side of my backpack has molded to your shape and feels empty when I have forgotten you on my desk.  That’s been a cause of serious pain for me, reaching for you and having the sudden realization that I left my most prized possession behind.

You indirectly provide me with entertainment; every time I go to fill you up in Eagles I am reminded, “I’d tap that.”  Clever.

You actually make drinking water fun.  Before you came into my life, Camelbak, I hardly drank any water.  But you’ve changed that… you’ve changed me.

Although you keep me so well hydrated that I have to build trips to the bathroom into my daily schedule, these are sacrifices that must be made.  All of the water that I obsessively filter through my Brita would have nowhere to go if you weren’t here.  When I’m starving in my 9am, feeling like I’m Anne Hathaway in Les Mis, you are there to comfort me and provide temporary relief from my ailments.

And imagine, the days that you are not with me I must go through every class with nothing to do, head to the gym with no hope of rehydration, and no excuse to stand at the water fountain because my friends haven’t grabbed a table at Eagles yet.   I hope you know that the heartache that you cause me when you stray far from where I am has thus far been unparalleled.

So, thank you.  Thank you for being there for me in class, at the gym, and just to pass the time.  Here’s to you, and all that you do for this thirsty college student.

I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
