Meet Campus Cutie John Colpoys!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Meet Cutie John Colpoys! This sophomore loves playing the trumpet and is all about politics (he runs a Fantasy Congress league in his spare time!). He’s a sweetheart with a huge personality! Read on to get to know John!

The Basics

Name: John Colpoys

Hometown: Scituate, MA

School/Year: A&S, 2017

Major: Political Science

BC Life

Activities/Clubs: BC “Screaming Eagles” Marching Band, Symphonic Band (SymBa), Pep Band, BC Model United Nations, and the Ignatian Society.

Best class: Major American Political Rivalries. I love American history and politics, so it’s only fitting that my favorite class combines the two!

Bapst or O’Neill: Bapst is the more beautiful library, but O’Neill is the better place to study (the first floor basement is prime study space).

Favorite place to eat on campus: The Rat, especially on Fish Sandwich Friday.

Biggest pet peeve:  I have no time or respect for liars. Also don’t like people who chew loudly.

Fun fact: I’m a third-generation Eagle! Both my grandfather (Class of ’42) and my father (Class of ’81) graduated from BC. My grandfather was even in the Marching Band way back then!

Favorite movie: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. It’s old and a bit hokey, I know, but Jimmy Stewart is phenomenal and has a great story.

Favorite TV show: House of Cards. Kevin Spacey is an acting god.

Celeb crush: Jennifer Lawrence. She’s amazingly talented and doesn’t change herself to fit other people’s image of beauty. I love that!

Dream job: Probably either a Senator, or Ambassador to the United Nations (or any country for that matter).

Favorite BC sport: Hockey. My dad took me to games when I was a kid, and I’ve loved the atmosphere at those games ever since.

Favorite hangout spot on campus: Stokes quad. It’s a great place for a pick-up game of football or wiffle ball.

Relationship status: Single and ready to mingle!

Ideal girl: Someone smart, kind, and sociable who enjoys dinner dates and social outings, but also appreciates spending quieter time together (watching a movie, romantic walks, etc.).

Ideal date:  Dinner in the city (preferably seafood), and then a romantic stroll along the harbor.

Advice to freshmen: Don’t let academic pressures or potential careers prevent you from learning things you love. Take classes when possible that aren’t part of the core or your major. Above all, enjoy the time you have here, because it goes by fast!

So if you’re interested in politics, or just looking for someone to ref your pickup football game, Colpoys is a fantastic person to know!

BC Senior, Future High School Teacher. Lover of laughing, Diet Coke, friends and family, pandas, peanut butter, and the BCMB.
I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
