Meet Campus Cutie, Jackie Arnold!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Meet Campus Cutie, Jackie Arnold! This optimistic, hiking queen is the perfect match for anyone who can appreciate a good adventure. Her hobbies include climbing trees (she spent most of her childhood in trees) and drinking immense amounts of coffee. She is guaranteed to be a great girl to get to know even if your’e just looking for a friend.

The Basics:

Name: Jackie Arnold

Hometown: Reisterstown

School/Year: Arts & Science 2018

Major: International Studies, minor in Bio/Hispanic studies

BC Life:

Activities/Clubs: Marathon Club, Cura, FYSP, SJP, HCBC writer

Best class: Perspectives or biology.

Worst class: To be determined! I have loved my classes so far.

Bapst/O’Neill: Definitely O’Neill. Bapst gives me anxiety.

Favorite place to eat: Addie’s.

Biggest pet peeve: When people walk with headphones in. Or they wear headphones on the Newton bus…. I just want to talk to people, and wearing headphones makes one very unapproachable.

Favorite quality in a person: Loves to explore (the world/academic areas/ strengths/spirituality). My closest friends are those who constantly inquire and grow by learning and enriching their knowledge of the world.

Girl crush: This is the typical girl response, but if I’m honest, then Jennifer Lawrence. She’s bold, funny, and confident in herself.

Dream job: This is tough, because I’m interested in a myriad of things. I know what I want to do and who I want to be, but I’m not sure if that corresponds with a position title that everyone would recognize. I know I want to be out of my comfort zone, that’s for sure. I want to be in some remote area of the world, working and communicating with people in a very tangible, personal, and loving way. My dream job lies in the realm of promoting education, especially for women and those in impoverished nations. I’m interested in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, and I can see myself making that a long term career.

Favorite BC sport: Um….none of them, really. I’m not too interested in watching sports. I’d rather play them.

Favorite hangout spot on campus: When it’s warm, the Reservoir.

Fun fact: Only one of my eyes crosses.

Ideal date: A hike.

Deal breakers: If you don’t like the outdoors, see ya. I spend most of my time outside.

Advice to freshmen: Be yourself, and don’t worry about doing what everyone else is doing. You can’t find true friends if you put on a façade. Also, be open to people- don’t make judgments based on a first encounter or conversation. People will always surprise you.

Favorite food: Hummus, without a doubt. I’ve eaten it with a spoon before.

Favorite ice cream flavor: Coconut.
