Indoor Activities to Beat the Gloominess of the Rain

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

The rainy weather seems to have permanently settled in Boston leaving many of us wondering if we will ever see the sun again. It is clearly impacting everyone’s moods because as you look around campus, people seem exhausted and grumpy. So instead of feeling this way, let’s embrace the rain by doing fun indoor activities! Here is a list of five things to do while it is raining.

  1. Girls’ Night In

Sometimes the best thing to do to get into a good mood is to have your best girl friends over for a girl’s night in. You can do face masks, paint each other’s nails, drink some rosé, and have some quality girl talk. The best part about this is that you most likely live with most of your best friends so you don’t even have to leave your room to have a good time – aka, you stay out of the rain.

  1. Go to a Movie

There are so many good movies out right now that can easily make you forget about the dreary weather outside and fully immerse yourself into the world on screen. Also, getting off campus can help brighten anyone’s spirits.

  1. Go Shopping

Another great indoor activity is to hit up the nearest indoor mall. Nothing cures the rainy day blues better than some retail therapy.

  1. Go to the Boston Public Library

If you don’t have time to do fun indoor activities due to studying, try beating the gloominess of the rain by studying somewhere off campus. Mixing up the study location and traveling into Boston will add some excitement to your day… And, the BPL is so beautiful that it’s hard not to be in a good mood while you are there.

  1. Fun Friend Projects

There are so many random things you can create with your group of friends. Some girls have made music videos, others have done fashion shows and both have been full of laughs. So try one of these activities or an idea of your own to gather your friends together and make a fun project.

To sum up, don’t let rain get you down! Find ways to embrace the terrible weather by trying new indoor activities with your friends.
