By Morgan Gibbons
February 28, 2012 - 5:00am

Everyone knows who she is.  I mean, I must have heard her name around campus at least 20 times this weekend.  Her reputation has been around for a while, too.  Love her or hate it, as a BC student you are most likely bound to run into her at some point.  Some flock to her while others have had bad experiences with her and avoid her at all costs.  If you haven’t yet had your experience with this “campus celeb” yet, here are some quotes about her to prepare you for your first encounter.  And if you have, well maybe you can attest to what we have to say.

By Lauren Ruvo
February 7, 2012 - 5:00am

J. Sophia (aka Sophie) Nam, a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at the Lynch Graduate School of Education, is anything but geographically constrained.  She was born in South Korea, moved to the Czech Republic, and then in high school left her family to move to the United States.  Like most high school students, Nam faced the typical teenage girl challenges, except she had to learn how to deal with them on her own, away from her family.

By Kathryn Saphire
January 24, 2012 - 12:00am

Like many BC students, junior Bud O’Hara had a rather limited geographic reign.  Hailing from Chatham, New Jersey, his travel experience extended beyond the North East only for a few tropical vacations and a weeklong excursion in Germany.  That is until he decided to go “off the grid” for study abroad in Kathmandu, Nepal last semester.

By Marye Moran
January 19, 2012 - 5:00am

It’s the middle of December, and the Plex is on fire.  Not literally, but with the amount of sweat dripping off of the bodies of the brave students in the BC-X class, it might as well be.  They’re pushing themselves to the limit, but it’s hard not to when you’re being instructed by Gio.

By Jayne Croteau
December 13, 2011 - 12:00am

I've known for a while that my friend Steph Mui had been to China over the 2011 summer break, but I didn’t really know her reason behind the journey halfway across the world.  A nursing major, Steph is talented in many academic respects: she spent three weeks of her summer at a community health clinic in Beijing, specifically studying traditional Chinese medicine and treatments. Luke Kuechly: ACC Defensive Player of the Year

By Julianne Wojno
December 6, 2011 - 12:00am

“After my junior year in high school is when I realized I could be alright,” says Luke Kuechly.  Sitting at a high top in Lower, the linebacker described as “one of the most prolific tacklers in ACC and NCAA history” by BCEagles.com, couldn’t be more modest.

As the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 15.92 tackles a game for BC with a total of 191 tackles and 532 stops just three years into his career, Kuechly is a household name in BC football and in college football nationwide.

In fact, just this weekend, former Chicago Bear and Football Hall of Famer, Dick Butkis, honored Kuechly by surprising him with the 27th annual Butkis Award.  The Award is presented to the nation’s top linebacker.  No big deal. ...

By Marye Moran
November 29, 2011 - 12:00am

Bapst or O’Neill?  Hillside or Eagle’s Nest?  Football or hockey?  When we ask students’ preferences at BC, we tend to focus on the main options.  We’re not asking Bapst, O’Neill, or the Social Work Library in the basement of McGuinn.  And we’re certainly not asking Hillside, Eagles, or the Bean Counter.  But through the work of a new group on campus, we will soon be asking football, hockey, or basketball.
