Best Ways To Spend Sick Days

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Being sick is not fun. You don’t feel well, you have a hard time focusing on work, and no one wants to hang out with you because they’re convinced you’re contagious (which, for the record, you probably are). However, there’s always a silver lining, so follow these tips the next time you’re sick, and your day will get a whole lot better!

1. Eat whatever you want.

When you’re sick, you should eat basically whatever makes you happy. People say you should eat lots of soup because it’s warm, but burritos are warm, too. So eat a lot of burritos. You can’t feel guilty about it because you’re sick, so whatever.

2. Stay in bed all day.

Bed day is the epitome of happiness. Imagine- an entire day, just in your bed. You have pillows and blankets, and maybe a stuffed animal or two. It’s the closest thing to perfection you could ever imagine.

3. Pajamas.

Sticking with the bed theme, hello, why would you change out of your pajamas? Pajamas are comfy and cozy, and will obviously make you feel better. No one will hang out with you, anyways, so why does it matter what you wear?

4. Have the dorm to yourself.

Roommates are awesome and we do love them, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little alone time. Take advantage of the fact that your roommates are probably in class or at work and be the queen of your dorm. Take extra long showers, hog the remote- basically, live the dream.

5. Act like a diva.

Your roommates/ best friends/ significant other should know that they have to cater to you on sick days. They should shower you with snacks, love, and anything else your heart desires. Sure, it might not be the nicest thing in the world to play up your sickness, but they probably want to help you. Everyone deserves a diva day sometimes.

Not feeling well might stink, but you can always make the best of it! Get rest, take care of yourself, and try to have a little fun!

I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
