Beaches Near Boston College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

As summer is closely approaching and the dreary winter days are going away, every one is getting excited to put on a swimsuit and head to the beach.  IF you are already getting summer fever and want to head to a beach nearby to soak up the sun, here are some options of the beaches closest to BC campus.

Revere Beach

This 2-mile beach brings lots of local sunbathers and beach lovers.  There is a public beach house as well as Victorian-style pavilions who do not want to fry in the sun.  Don’t have a car?  No worries!  You can take the Blue Line to Wonderland and you are only a short walk from the beach.

Carson Beach

Want to take a quick trip from the city to the beach? Carson Beach is less than a ½ mile walk from the Red Line’s JFK-UMass Station.  If you get hungry after a day in the sun, you can head over to Seaside Café for some chowder, hot dogs, hamburgers and refreshing drinks!

Wingaersheek Beach

This North Shore beach is a super family friendly beach full of beach day necessities like restrooms, showers, concession stand, lots of sand and some essential jetty diving spots!

Crane Beach

Crane Beach, in Ipswich, is a bit of a hike to get there but so worth the trip!  White sand, sand bars and tide pools line the 4 miles of beautiful coastline.  Crane beach also offers amenities such as food order (providing everything from burgers to salads to sandwiches), restrooms, showers and changing booths.

Spectacle Island

This Boston Harbor Island beach is only a short ferry ride away.  After being open to the public in 2006, Bostonian beach lovers head here for a truly New England beach experience: pebbly beach and boat docks. Spectacle Island also has food concessions, restrooms and a visitor center.

Nantasket Beach

Although it takes a ferry ride to get here, the scenic route where you can sunbathe the whole way is worth it!  Visitors have been heading to this 3-mile shore line since the 1800s.  If you take the trip you will understand why; there is a beautiful view and ample sunshine to absorb!
