A BC Girl’s Guide to Newton Centre

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Newton Centre is a culinary haven and is fortunately only a short distance from BC’s main campus. So, here is your guide to Newton Centre, bon appetit!

Best Diner Experience: Johnny’s Luncheonette

What’s better than some delicious pancakes and eggs on a Saturday or Sunday morning? Johnny’s Luncheonette, a Newton Centre favorite, offers all the typical diner fare: eggs, pancakes, waffles, and even their famous grilled blueberry muffins! Johnny’s also serves lunch all day, and you can finish your meal with a mini-milkshake of your choice! The best part about Johnny’s Luncheonette, however, is how many of your classmates you will run into. BC students love Johnny’s!

Best Brunch Spot:Farmstead Table

For those seeking a more classy, lighter brunch experience, Farmstead Table is the place to be on the weekends. This small, farm-to-table restaurant offers a diverse brunch menu, with items ranging from homemade cheese blintzes, to huevos rancheros, to a nice basket of warm popovers! Also be sure to check out the extensive coffee, tea, and juice menu at Farmstead. I guarantee you will leave this restaurant feeling happy and good!

Best Sweet Treat: J.P. Lick’s

Let’s be honest, we all need a little sweet treat now and then! In Newton Centre you can look no further than the local chain, J.P. Lick’s. This ice cream store offers a variety of ice cream and hard frozen yogurt options, ranging from classic flavors like Cake Batter and Peanut Butter Cookies ‘n’ Cream, to special monthly flavors such as London Fog and Caramel Delight. Have a special event? Buy an ice cream cake or pie while you’re there! J.P. Lick’s never fails to please!

Best Dinner: Sycamore

In the mood for a great, elegant meal, but don’t have the energy to go into downtown Boston? Try Sycamore! This restaurant, which is frequently placed on “Best Restaurants in Boston” lists, advertises itself as a neighborhood bistro placing a strong emphasis on fresh, seasonal flavors. The ambiance itself is enough to draw one to this neighborhood gem, but when you’re there, be sure to save room for dessert and order the dark chocolate tart! And remember boys, this is a great place to take your date!

Best Authentic Cuisine:Four Spoons

Sick of dining hall grilled chicken? In the mood for something different? Newton Centre’s Four Spoons is an incredible thai-inspired restaurant just moments away from campus. A small space with bold flavors, Four Spoons has a massive menu that makes the restaurant an instant crowd pleaser! Recommendations include a classic Pad Thai for dinner and a fried banana roll for dessert! Enjoy!
