7 Things We Missed Most About BC over the Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

As excited as we all were for finals week to be over at the end of last semester so we could head home and begin our summers, there are places, foods, events, and people at BC that we can’t help but miss.

    1.   Gasson

An entire summer without the most beautiful building on campus? Not being able to snap a single Gasson gram was definitely tough. There is no sunset quite like a Gasson sunset, with the way the sun reflects off the windows and bell tower. And of course, nothing brightens my day more than walking past Gasson after classes and appreciating how lucky I am to go to school on such a beautiful campus.

     2.  Eagles Nest

Debatably the best place on campus to grab a bite to eat, my summer cuisine just wasn’t the same without their fresh, hand tossed salads loaded with greens, veggies, and popcorn chicken. And of my course my personal favorite: the bowls. Yes, they really are as good as they look; I literally craved one of these bowls for the entire month of August. Filled with quinoa, seasoned veggies, and the delicious mac n cheese, there’s nothing better to fill you up for the afternoon ahead.

    3.   The Res

The Chestnut Hill Reservoir is the perfect place to go for a morning run, take pictures, or admire the Boston skyline. So even though this gorgeous spot isn’t technically on campus, it is still a BC staple that appears on nearly every Eagle’s Instagram at least once a semester.

    4.   Addie’s

The best part about this dining location is that it goes on your regular meal plan (meaning you don’t have to use your precious Eagle Bucks!). It’s student run and all the ingredients are locally grown. I always get the tomato mozzarella flatbread with basil on top (10/10 would recommend) and grab a chocolate milkshake on my way out to satisfy my sugar craving.

    5.  GAME DAY

Why else would we be up at 8 AM on a Saturday? Ok, so we all know that BC doesn’t have the best sports teams, but that doesn’t stop us from getting pumped for game days! Win or lose, there’s still nothing more fun than joining the sea of maroon and gold while tailgating in the mod lot and cheering on our Eagles.

   6.  The Chocolate Bar

Everyone knows Starbucks and Dunkin can’t compare to the quality of Peet’s Coffee at the Chocolate Bar in Stokes. Last year I got an iced mocha almost every morning here; I just couldn’t stay away. They also have the best giant chocolate chip cookies perfect for a mid morning snack in between classes.

7. Friends/Roommates

No matter how many miles may separate you and your BC friends over the summer, you have a lifelong bond with these people you spend every day with during the year and coming back to campus to reunite is the best feeling. Whether they’re your partner in crime at a party or your gym buddy, you know you simply couldn’t live without these incredible humans by your side.

Here’s to wishing you all a great semester, Welcome back to campus Eags!!
