It’s safe to say that for most of us at Baylor, studying abroad is part of our college plan. But even with a study abroad plan in the works (or behind you), when Spring begins to peak through the clouds, the travel itch starts, and dreaming about a epic Euro-trip or an Australian adventure becomes a daily distraction when struggling through our oh-so-boring lectures. What is Beauty

By Kylie Meador
December 1, 2011 - 12:30pm

What is beauty? That question has haunted women for years. Beauty has been the cause of eating disorders, jealousy,  hidden mirrors and an overall contempt for the TRUE beauty that is a woman's form. I am on a quest, you may say, to find the true definition of the word. Not a rail thin, unhealthy, dieting form of the word...but the definition as it was intended.

Pop Music

Who hasn’t done a cover of "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley? Seriously, just look it up on YouTube... I just did – I saw one from Pink, Beyonce, Maroon 5, One Republic, and Cat Power. The list goes on, and on, and on. But what I don’t get is why there are so many covers of this song? It’s no surprise to me that it became famous – it’s great. It’s one of the few songs that plays on the radio that doesn’t make me die of shame for our society. READ MORE

Why it Rocks to be in the Friend Zone

By Casey Barillas
October 30, 2011 - 10:57pm

A lot of women face this challenge day after day after day. They meet an attractive guy, hang out with him, sometimes even one on one (oh wow)! But these ungrateful guys decide to make it perfectly clear that they have no interest of dating said woman, much to the very confused woman's dismay. There are various ways this can happen. I will here list the most common three: 1) Guy says to girl something about a relationship, "Like a sister."
2) Guy says to girl something about leaving early for a date with a hottie.
3) Guy tells girl that he pees in the shower. READ MORE

What it takes to be an entrepreneur

By Casey Barillas
October 27, 2011 - 12:00am

As the market becomes increasingly competitive, a formal education seems to be a requirement for almost all job applicants. It is impossible for a biochemist or a physicist to become successful without a formal degree.
However, it is not impossible for an entrepreneur to become incredibly wealthy without an academic background. In fact, a survey by Inc. Magazine says that 77 percent of entrepreneurs don’t have any form of college degree. READ MORE

How to Annoy your Bartender

By Mollie Munro
October 18, 2011 - 12:00am

A list of 10 ways to tick off your bartender and ensure bad service for the rest of eternity 10. Blowing bubbles at the bar.  You are not five years old and you are not at the playground. This move guarantees eye rolls and glares from your bartender.  9. Blowing smoke into the bartender’s face when ordering.  Actually, let’s just say that blowing anything at the bar is a bad idea… 8. Asking for a drink and calling it something stupid.  For example, do not order a Lake Brazos Bomber when all you want is a freaking glass of water.  Step off, for real.  As a general rule, if you ask for a drink, know what is in it. No bartender has the time to get a book to look it up.  READ MORE

Ring by Spring?-Lessons in Love

By Jessica Chia
October 4, 2011 - 12:00am

“Happily ever afters” are often held off until graduation, but there are exceptions to the modern-day norm. According to 2008 data from the General Social Survey conducted by the National Opinion Research Center, 25.9 percent of respondents between ages 18-29 are married, but students at traditional 4-year colleges would have a hard time naming even a handful of married classmates. Four college women, two of whom wed as underclassmen, shared their personal experiences juggling the lifelong commitment of marriage with academic commitments.
Ashley Armstrong, 26, and Lyndee Neilson, 23, Baylor graduate students taking classes in addition to graduate assistantships in Baylor’s recreation department, said their transition to married life was easy....
