Make way for the next Duchess: Meghan Markle

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bates chapter.

By now many of you have heard that Prince Harry is engaged to Suits actress Meghan Markle, and I am HERE for it. Prince Harry has always been my all-time favorite British monarch. He’s down-to-earth and always doing some humanitarian effort. (Remember when he went to the Barbados for World Aids Day and got tested with Rihanna.)

Here are some fun and interesting things about Meghan Markle.

Meghan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California to parents Tom Markle and Doria Radlan.

She is biracial. Her mother is African American and her father is Caucasian.

In 2003, she graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Theater and International Studies.

Just like her character in Suits, Meghan’s first name is Rachael. She was born Rachel Meghan Markle on August 4, 1981.

Meghan is a global ambassador for World Vision Canada and has traveled to Rwanda for the Clean Water Campaign, the agency’s campaign to provide safe, clean drinking water.

We are so excited for this Royal Wedding. It will take place in May 2018. Congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!
