A Fashion Trend I Just Don’t Get

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bates chapter.

I try to be open-minded when it comes to fashion. If people like something and feel good wearing it, why would my opinion matter? If they don’t ask my opinion, I have no business giving it. That being said, there are some trends that I just don’t understand. The newest fad that I can’t seem to wrap my head around is the super cropped sweatshirt.

I simply do not understand the point of this. A sweatshirt is supposed to keep you warm and cozy, and by taking away the vast majority of the body of the sweatshirt, you remove a lot of the warmth it can provide.

Why do people wear these? I really don’t get it; the only part of the body it would keep warm is the arms, but if someone wanted warmer arms, they could wear a sweater or just longer sleeves.

Honestly, this just confuses me personally, but if it floats your boat, then wear it! Don’t let other people tell you how to dress if you’re not hurting anyone. I think I’ll leave this trend to other people for now; maybe I’ll understand it one day.
