Actress and singer Zendaya, electrified the streets of Soho when she held her Pop Up Shop featuring her new clothing line, Daya. Zendaya’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection, which brings laid-back street style to an elevated level, was released in-store and online, and you pretty much need it in your life.

Upon walking into the Pop Up Shop, customers felt the New York energy within each piece. The shop was like her line: minimalist, with racks of clothing in an open, warehouse space, but also bold and urban-chic. On a large screen, Zendaya and her crew strutted down the streets of New York in oversized hoodies from her collection. Each person featured in the video had a unique look, showcasing the diversity of city fashion.

Zendaya’s line features a variety of style staples from printed tees to cozy, yet elegant tapered joggers. The collection was dominated by black, white, and monochrome-olive, while metal embellishments, quilted patterns, printed text, and gold accents added extra flair to each piece. The pieces featured on her website range from must-have army jackets and bombers to sophisticated jumpsuits and dresses. Daya’s versatile clothing can be paired with a simple pair of sneakers for an everyday look, or refined with a pair of heels.

Her line- comprised of a few, essential pieces- are all tied together by their inspiration from the streets of New York. The collection features every facet of city life with straightforward, modern designs, from “unbothered and unapologetic” to “rethinking the three-piece suit.” This line takes the basic, city style and breathes new life into it by representing the different faces of New York City, while also allowing everyone to make street style their own. Patches were given out for free with any purchase at the Daya Pop Up Shop, which enabled people to customize their look.

Daya makes street wear accessible not only through its reasonable prices, but also through its simple designs, which creates flexibiltiy for customers to add their own flair to each piece.
