Biting into the Big Apple: 10 Reasons Why Reservation Apps Are A Must Have

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

In a time where the Uber app has become almost as essential as carrying your wallet, I’d like to declare the necessity of reservation apps. Apps like Open Table, Resi, and Shout do a fine job of contributing to our generation’s emphasis on instant gratification. You search for a restaurant, indicate how many people are in your party, and voila – dinner reservations for two anyone?  So here are ten reasons why these apps are 100% necessary:

1) Deciding where to go is difficult enough the rest should just be able to fall in to place.

2) There is nothing more aggravating than an overworked, agitated maître d’ who has little to no interest in speaking to you.

3) No one on the other end of the app can tell you to “please hold.”

4) Apps never lie, people do.

5) You can book reservations just about anywhere, including the library (because if you’re anything like me you plan your whole day around your next meal).

6) If you’re a faithful user, you will be rewarded with discounts at select restaurants.

7) Major time saver! Rather than having to call several restaurants to find out their availability, you can search for open seats at the click of a button.

8) You can make reservations at some of the most exclusive restaurants in NYC up to an hour before dining for just a reasonable surcharge.

9) You’ll never have to hear the words, “I’m sorry, but the wait is twenty minutes” again.

10) There’s an app for everything else so…why not?!
