Between the college girls in halloween costumes, businessmen in button-down shirts, and local rap music enthusiasts; it’s safe to say there was no ‘typical’ fan at Fool’s Gold Day Off. However, Fool’s Gold is no typical record label.

The independent label based out of Brooklyn, N.Y. was founded by two house DJs, A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, who often perform at the concerts that they organize. Fool’s Gold Day Off in Atlanta was no exception. The second to last stop on this year’s Day Off tour, which took place at the Masquerade theatre, was energetic and captivating from beginning to end.

A-Trak paced the stage while the opening acts were performing and tossed t-shirts out to the crowd. Toward the end of the concert, A-Trak and Lex Luger took over the turn tables as a collective which they call Low Pros.

Travi$ Scott got the crowd going as he performed some of his popular tracks from his most recent project entitled Days Before Rodeo. Scott warned one audience member who began to sit down that, “you don’t sit down in the front row unless you’re in church.” He was eventually joined on stage by special guest, and Atlanta celebrity T.I.

The show concluded with headliner Danny Brown. While Brown was scheduled to hit the stage at 11:15, he didn’t end up performing until around midnight. Nevertheless, the crowd never tired and Danny Brown brought his typical infectious energy. He featured some of his most popular singles from his album Old while cloaked in a colorful silk kimono.

Danny Brown’s presence filled the entire room and finished off the 9-hour concert in style. Brown recently announced on the Beats by Dre Instagram, that he has yet another album in the works. He will also be featured on fellow Detroit rapper, Eminem’s, next project.
