Let’s talk designer brands.

What makes it so special if you want to stick with the basic generic white T-shirt instead of a Banana Republic white T-shirt? What does it really affect? According some, it is worth it to buy designer brand clothing because spending that extra cash will save you basically a life time of having to buy the same item again; hence, it won’t break or look worn out by next weekend’s dinner party.

Is that really true though?

An article I read recently talks about how it isn’t understandable to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of jeans that will do just the exact same job as a $20 pair of jeans – making your butt look fabulous, of course!

Another time I saw an article discussing how it is super worth the extra dollars to get that trench coat since it will last you a lifetime. Maybe with the quality of designer brands, it may last longer and hold up better. I mean does it really hold up that well? Is it that much better? How do we really know?  A pair of Nike’s sneakers will get just as torn up as any other sneakers, right? I would assume people are using them to run and workout and such, but if not, then polishing them and putting them on a pedestal will definitely make them last a while.

Maybe it really boils down to how much use people put into wearing their clothes and how they personally take care of their belongings.

Although, let’s be real here, designer brands definitely make me feel like a million bucks! I mean I would love to wear and own Taylor Swift’s dress from the Grammy’s this year! Maybe it really does instill confidence in people when they wear designer brand clothes. Was that the intention of the famous designers? To make people feel more confident? Maybe! Who knows!

But is spending $500 on 15 designer piece of clothing more worth it than getting 50 generic items of clothing for the same price?

I think people should stick to their budget. Ultimately, if you have those extra dollars to spend, go for it! If not, stick to what you can! It’s all about personal preference. Thrifting is also great and a trendy activity. You could even find designer clothes then, but for cheap–now that sounds awesome!
