Why Going Home for Spring Break is the Best

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ASU chapter.

Spring Break is less than two weeks away and literally everyone is so psyched to get out of classes and essays and into a pool chair with a smoothie in their hand. While many are going to Rocky Point or Cabo for spring break, others are returning home for the week. But before you get all sad that you aren’t downing margaritas at Señor Frogs, there are so many reasons why your hometown is literally the best spot for Spring Break.

Free housing

Who wants to spend hundreds of dollars a night for a tiny bedroom in a crammed resort when you can have your own room with your own bed…..FOR FREEEEE!

Sleeping in your own bed

Cramming three girls into a queen bed does not scream “rest and relaxation” that spring break stands for. But having a queen sized bed to yourself, now that is pure bliss. You can sleep in as late as you want to and have no fear about being smushed between two hungover college girls.

Home cooked meals

Oh how you’ve missed your mom’s cooking. The dining hall does not compare to a home cooked meal that is made with love and not loaded with salt.

Actually having good alcohol

Why waste 14 bucks on a tiny mai-tai when your parents will hook you up with bottles of wine that isn’t on the lowest shelf at Safeway? The transition from drinking jungle juice out of a red solo cup to drinking merlot from an actual wine glass will make you feel uber classy.

PETS

Omg you haven’t seen your beautiful, furry angels since January and they don’t hold a conversation when you try to FaceTime them. It’s like you’ve been missing a piece of your heart for eight weeks and now you and your cuddle buddy are reunited.

Getting to see friends and family

The last time you saw the whole gang from your hometown was right after New Years and you are in serious need of some fam time. Everyone would love to see you since the next time you’ll be back home will be in May.

Bringing your College Friends

If your friends at school are just as broke as you and are not feeling Cabo, take them home with you. Your mom will be so happy you have friends and you can take them around and show off your amazing hometown. Plus, you won’t be alone when you need to make quick trips to Target where you will run into your high school ex.

Day Trips

Not feeling Netflix and sweatpants everyday (I feel you)? Go on day trips! Bring the friends that you brought out for spring break or take your little sister out of school to go explore different sites and cities in your state. Think of all the memories (and selfies) you’ll take.
