Sit on Your Face?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

Although we may be in college, there is always that one guy we dated back in high school that never seems to leave the back of our mind. Try as we might, its as if they have occupied a permanent spot in our head in which they have no desire or intention on leaving anytime soon. Although many of us would like to believe that our past is left in the past, this ideal does not always seem to prove itself to be true. Long story short, you still end up hooking up with your ex from high school during breaks.

Courtney Smith, 20, had experienced this true-life lesson when she went back to her home in California for the winter season. Having her hopes set on spending time with a guy she had been interested in for a while, she felt as if he ripped her heart out and performed a tap dance on top of it as he kept cancelling their plans, leaving Smith to feel rejected and vulnerable.
“I felt very hurt and vulnerable as he kept bailing on our plans,” said Smith. “I guess that is why I started talking to Chad Michelson, my ex-boyfriend from high school.”
Smith had dated Michelson for three years starting when they were 15. Though much time had passed since their breakup, he still remained to be an important person from her past. As Smith and Michelson began talking again, their catching up eventually turned into them hooking up.
“One night after another, I kept sneaking over to his place,” said Smith. “Every single time, we would always end up having sex.”
There was one night in particular that became especially memorable to Smith. It was during the early hours of the morning in Michelson’s room. Both sets of clothes were off. The lights were low and the only sound that filled the room was heavy breathing similar to that of running four blocks. As passions began to rise and the state of ecstasy only moments away, Michelson wantonly asked that Smith “sit on his face.” Upon hearing Michelson’s request there was a long awkward pause between the two.
“When he asked me to sit on his face I figured that I would most likely suffocate him,” said Smith. “I didn’t understand why he would ever want me to suffocate him during sex.”
Utterly confused, Smith politely declined Michelson’s request. But as soon as they moved on from this awkward moment, she finally realized what he was asking and what he wanted to do to her. Oops.
As the holidays passed and it came time for both to return to school, feelings between Smith and Michelson still remained. Though each had feelings for the other, they were not exactly mutual.
“The lesson I learned was to NEVER go back to your ex no matter how bad you feel,” said Smith. “He’s more attached to me than I am to him and he will not stop contacting me despite that particularly awkward night.”
I think we can all agree on the fact that there are some guys that always seem to remain with you no matter what.
