What are you involved in?
I am a member of Theta Chi and was recently elected President. I also work as an accounting intern at Tweetsie Railroad.
How were you involved in Theta Chi before being elected President?
My sophomore year I was philanthropy chair and I was treasurer for the past two years. I have also cooked for tailgates for the last few years, so some call me the “Theta Chi cook.”
What type of things do you like to cook?
My fan favorite is my quesadillas, and people love the secret sauce. I made cocktail meatballs once and those turned out really well and my sophomore year we made chicken parm. I try to do anything other than hamburgers and hot dogs, it’s pretty interesting to see what you can do on a grill.
What do you hope to accomplish this year as president?
I want to keep recruiting great guys. We’ve definitely grown a lot since I pledged and I would love to keep going in that same direction. I would like to have some bigger social events throughout the year, and hopefully bring some touring bands to Boone. I’d like to put some more time into lip sync since that is something that we used to do very well in, and also, hopefully win tug-of-war this year. Overall, I want to keep working on continuing to improve the fraternity as a whole before I graduate in the fall.
What do you love about your brothers in Theta Chi?
I like to think we are a really close, well-rounded group. Whenever people see Theta Chis on campus there’s normally at least 3 or 4 of us together. We do well at staying on top of our school work and do a good job balancing our social lives and academic responsibilities. Everyone involved in Theta Chi has made Boone an awesome home away from home and a lot of people don’t get to experience something like this, I guess I am a lucky fella. A pretty lucky dude.
