The Hollywood Women You Should Be Looking Up To

In a world with crazy celebrities going in and out of rehab, dancing in their underwear across massive stages and having public affairs, it is hard to have faith in the Hollywood fame. Women should have good role models to look up to in the media. The women listed below are just a few that stand out above the crowd with their charitable donations, their strength and their power as a woman. These are the kind of women collegiettes should be looking up to!

Ellen Degeneres

Host of the popular Ellen show, Ellen Degeneres is funny, sarcastic, and intelligent. Ellen is the face of celebrity LGBT America, being the most visible and popular A-lister to be out of the closet, and will not sacrifice her values or beliefs for Hollywood. Women should look up to Ellen because of her spunkiness, her charm and above all her dedication to what she believes in.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence has become America’s sweetheart with the popular Hunger Games trilogy being released in theaters in the past couple years and few years to come. She is witty and candid, which makes her so relatable to young women. Jennifer also takes a firm stand against not losing weight for any of her film roles and refusing to alter her figure in any way, shape or form. In a world where women are constantly being told to lose weight to fit a certain “mold,” Jennifer Lawrence is a breath of fresh air.

Hayden Panettiere

When we think of Hayden Panettiere we may think of a skimpy cheerleader uniform in the popular Bring it On sequel, or playing the sexy role of Beth Cooper, but what isn’t often publicized is how charitable and gracious she is. Hayden sells her old clothes on a website called Panettiere Closet so that the proceeds will go to her favorite organization, Save the Whales Again. In 2007, Hayden joined with The Whaleman Foundation to on a trip to disrupt an annual dolphin hunt in Taiji, Wakayama, Japan. She took a powerful stance against Japanese fisherman and ended up in a confrontation with a group of them. Hayden has drive, motivation and stands up for the things that she holds closest to her heart.

Beyonce Knowles

Beyonce gets the most press out of any celebrity in Hollywood. With her top-notch Superbowl performance and her latest album that is hard for anyone to rise above, she has gained the title of Queen of Pop. Though she is sometimes scrutinized for her sexy outfits, Beyonce believes that a woman has a right to show off whatever she pleases, dance the way she pleases and act the way she pleases. Beyonce is strong female figure in a world of flaky ones. She always has a consistent message of girl power and does not back down from that. Beyonce also holds clothing drives at all of her concerts and even created her own organization called the Survivor Foundation, which gives back to families affected by disasters.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock not only is a fantastic actress with her roles in The Blind Side, Miss Congeniality and her newest movie, Gravity, but she is also a graceful role model to young women. In 2010, her and her husband, Jesse James, had a public and sad divorce. Fans everywhere were devastated for Sandra Bullock. In the midst of all of her pain, she handled the situation with strength and grace and said that she was “never looking back.” It is important for young women to know that relationships come and go, and that is a part of life. Sandra Bullock’s public display of stability is an inspiration to women everywhere. Sandra Bullock also not only gives her money to charities, but does hands on work with problems such as Hurricane Katrina relief and the Red Cross.
