We Support #AmherstUprising

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Amherst chapter.

On November 12th, 2015, Amherst College students held a sit-in at Frost Library in solidarity with black college students nationwide who experience the daily effects of white supremacy in academia. The violence, harassment, and exclusion felt by students at Yale and Missouri are also felt by members of our own community. Today, we created a space for black, brown, and other marginalized students to be heard. Today, we are united in rising to the demands of our community. ‪#‎AmherstUprising‬‪#‎SitInSolidarity‬ ‪#‎RadicalCompassion‬ ‪#‎FrostSitIn‬

The members of Her Campus Amherst support the #AmherstUprising.  We were touched by your stories and hurt by your negative experiences.  That dialogue motivated us to get involved and we believe your stories can inspire others too.  We invite any students who feel like they want their stories told to submit to HC Amherst.  We support you.  You are beautiful.  You are worthy.  You are enough.  Your life matters.  We want to hear your story.
