I’m from Old Lyme, CT, which is a small town near the water. Nothing too exciting goes on there, but it’s a nice place to relax with family.
The weather at Amherst is about the same as it is back home. Being from the northeast the cold wasn’t a big adjustment to make.
I choose to attend Amherst because it gave me the best chance to do what I wanted academically and athletically. Amherst gives me the chance to pursue my academic interests, like going abroad, while also playing soccer, which something I wouldn’t have been able to do at the other schools I was considering.
I’m most passionate about soccer. Playing soccer has become one of the few places I am able to truly relax and forget about things like studying for an upcoming test, or which major seems more appealing. It provides me with an escape I can’t get from anything else.
My plan for the rest of my time at Amherst is to have a great time, while trying to maintain a respectable GPA. My plans for after college…. Who knows.
