To all those with short hair, I salute you.

If you don’t like to wear your hair down, I feel you.   My hair gets quite frizzy towards the ends and if it rains I look like Edward Scissorhands.

I often opt for the low ponytail, but the struggle of short hair is the weird poof thing it does in the back.  I have found various ways of covering my ends while still being presentable in the ten to fifteen minutes I am willing to dedicate to my hair.

Side ponytail

For some reason, putting my hair to the side is much more attractive than pulling it back into a low ponytail. It has a youthful charm with a hint of casual.  A few hairpins on the side of your head can keep shorter strands in place for the rest of the day.

Top bun

Who said top buns are only for long hair.  If your hair’s not long enough to do the rap around, put your hair in a ponytail and then arrange the loose strands into your desired circular form.  Pin the strands around your head, fluff it to make a big poof and hair spray to make it stay.

Double bun

This style can be on the top of your head or towards the bottom and it gives a different feel.  Top double buns are similar to punk rock and low double buns are a bit more indie.  It’s almost like have a different persona and can change any entire outfit.

Braided crown

This is my go-to hairstyle that I have been saving for the really rough parts in the semester.  It can take practice if you aren’t used to braiding.  Separate your hair in two sections and braid one side and the next before pinning them together in the back so it looks like you have a crown

Pigtails

Short hair pigtails are the cutest hairstyles.  It makes any face look cherub and approachable.  There is a bit of nostalgia from our elementary school days so you can’t help but feel cute when wearing this style.

There are so many variations to these styles that can come to you depending on how your hair looks that day.  Play around with braids, twists and the like to make each style your own.

What are some of your favorite hairstyles for short hair?
