While every friendship is unique, you tend to notice a trend after a few years of the types of friends in each friend group. Some times, one person may fall into multiple categories. Which kind of friend are you and how many of them have you already made? ;)
Floormate/Roomie
This person is a close friend, literally. Part of your bond is the fact that you live in the same dorm or in the same room. Most times, it is someone who you wouldn’t have known if you didn’t live in the same dorm because you have no classes together. The biggest pro is having someone who is completely removed from a situation be there to listen to your problems and make your dorm feel a little bit more like home.
Sister/Brother
This person reminds you of one of your siblings or is the sibling that you never had. They always know how you’re feeling before you say it. You can tease each other, borrow each other’s clothes and eat off of each other’s plates. They are everything that you can ask for in a friend and so much more.
The Parent
Possibly the friend who cares about you the most and shows it by nitpicking at everything that you do. We won’t lie, it can be a little annoying. However, if something happens and you feel helpless, you can rely on them to guide you in the right direction.
The Child
This is the friend that you take care of like a parent would. They could be a year or two below you or someone who can’t hold their alcohol, or someone who has a whole host of problems that you seems to be the right person to give advice to solve.
The Person You *Secretly* Like
Whether it was for a short period of time, or a feeling you just can’t shake, this is the person who you wouldn’t mind being more than a friend. For whatever reason you decided to not act on your feelings is up to you. However, you definitely don’t push it.
The Person Who *Secretly* Likes You
It would’ve been a secret if a) the person wasn’t so obvious or b) everyone else hasn’t told you hundreds of millions of times. Perhaps you don’t feel the same way or don’t want to ruin a friend group by trying out a relationship. It can be one of the more awkward relationships of this list
The Friend Everyone Thinks Your Dating
Because no two people could be that close and have a platonic relationship. That would be ridiculous. -rolls eyes-
The Friend You Kinda Don’t Like
This is the person that you maybe jealous of or you are just friend’s by association. You dislike for this person isn’t enough to not be friends with them, but it is enough that you woudn’t exactly hang out one on one. Usually this friendship doesn’t last over a few years.
The Acquaintance/Classmate/Person You See All The Time
Let’s be real, this person isn’t you’re “friend” until you/re telling a story about them. Don’t believe me? When was the last time you said this: “So my friend…well they aren’t really my friend, just some person in my class…but any way…”
